Bruno Hofstetter joined 2001 Federal Customs Administration for the collection of the Heavy Vehicle Charge (HGV). He previously worked for 15 years as a development engineer and project manager at ABB in the area of power electronics for railway applications for traction and onboard power supply.
In the Customs Administration he is now responsible for the overall conception for the collection systems of road transport charges and their further development. He managed several projects, in particular the procurement and introduction of the 2nd generation OBU (emotach) with the phase out of the 1st generation. He is an expert on interoperability from the very beginning with the implementation of the bilateral interoperability solution between the Swiss and Austrian truck tolling systems and has represented the Customs Administration in the European projects MEDIA, RCI, CESARE and REETS. Currently he is engaged in the implementation of EETS in the Swiss HVC system and the conception for the replacement of the paper Vignette by an electronic Vignette.
