Jan Cools

Co-Chief Executive Officer


Jan Cools was born in 1975. He graduated as a civil engineer in Computer Science at the University of Leuven and the National Polytechnic Institute of Toulouse. After obtaining an MBA at the Vlerick Management School, he became sales director at the Belgian vehicle telematics company Acunia.

In 2003 he founded ITS Belgium, the Belgian platform for the intelligent transport systems, grouping leading Belgian road authorities, research institutes and telematics companies.

In 2006 Jan started Be-Mobile NV, that quickly became a leading European traffic information player, focusing on the collection and distribution of traffic information (using connected vehicles) to road operators, car manufacturers, radio and TV stations and logistics companies.

In 2015 Jan acquired the extremely popular Dutch speed trap app Flitsmeister.

In March 2016, Be-Mobile was merged with the Belgian companies Flow and Mobile-For, and welcomed Proximus, the biggest Belgian telecom operator, as its new majority shareholder.

Today Be-Mobile offers solutions for urban traffic management, traveler information services, electronic toll collecting and mobile payment for parking & public transport

Be-Mobile has its headquarters in Ghent and employs about 90 people.
