FETC International awarded GHG emissions verification for MLFF ETC system

FETC International awarded GHG emissions verification for MLFF ETC system
FETC International and its parent company, Far Eastern Electronic Toll Collection Co. (FETC), have received third-party verification for greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions under ISO 14064-1:2018.

The certification, presented by AFNOR Asia and supported by consulting firm Sustaihub, affirms the Taiwanese companies’ commitment to carbon management and sustainability across their electronic tolling and mobility operations.

FETC’s multi-lane free-flow (MLFF) electronic toll collection system, deployed across 339 gantries in Taiwan, was central to the verification process, enabling rapid data collection and analysis of emissions.

The company’s GHG inventory used the CloudCarbon system for precise emissions tracking.

Although not publicly listed, both FETC and FETC International completed their GHG verification ahead of Taiwan’s 2027 and 2029 deadlines for listed companies, aligning with the nation’s corporate sustainability roadmap.

Since launch, FETC’s MLFF and digital parking services have processed more than 64 billion transactions, reportedly avoiding 2.64 million tonnes of CO₂ emissions, saving 1.1 billion litres of fuel and significantly reducing paper waste.

FETCi’s uTagGo app, which supports automated parking payments, digital receipts and carbon credit incentives, is also credited with avoiding over 76,000 tonnes of emissions – equivalent to the annual absorption of more than 6.3 million trees.
