Toll4Europe integrates SID into its German app
SID was designed by the German Federal Ministry of Transport (BMV), together with the Federal Office for Logistics and Mobility (BALM) and toll service providers in Germany.
The data is provided via the Mobilithek Open Data Platform, with the digital initiative directly to Toll4Europe customers.
Speaking at the time of launch, July 2025, German Federal Minister of Transport, Patrick Schnieder, said: “Our logistics specialists do a great job every day.
“To do this, they need sufficient breaks and safe parking spaces.
“With the parking space information service, we will optimise the utilisation of existing truck parking spaces in the future and create greater transparency through digital technology.”
Toll4Europe’s SID integration into its app will enable it to provide real-time occupancy data (available/partially occupied/full) for for around 1,000 parking areas across Germany.
Whenever available, the app also displays details about on-site facilities and services such as showers, fuel stations, toilets, shops, and even special parking areas (e.g. for oversized or special-load trucks).
Drivers will now be able to find parking spaces using various filler options and navigate directly to their chosen parking area using the app.
Also speaking at the time of launch, July 2025, the president of the Federal Office for Logistics and Mobility, Christian Hoffmann, said: “With the help of the parking space information service, the occupancy levels of truck parking spaces at rest areas along highways can be systematically determined based on location data and transmitted almost in real time.
“This service reduces truck search traffic, facilitates compliance with driving and rest times, and increases the safety of all road users.”
