Pétur Matthíasson has led the communication office at Vegagerðin (Icelandic Road and Coastal Administration) since 2007. He also serves as secretary to the board of directors and is active in international cooperation through the Nordic Road Association and the Conference of European Directors of Roads. Before entering the transport sector, Pétur worked as a journalist for 15 years at Iceland’s public service broadcaster RÚV, serving as both a news reporter and news editor.
